Rhinestone and stud setters

No glue, no heat: prongs go through the fabric and fold over. It is still the strongest bond on heavy fabric.

Kinds of setter

  • Table-top setters with a lever and interchangeable dies, the modern form of the original bedazzler.
  • Hand setters and pliers for occasional use.
  • Press machines for pearl and rivet setting.
  • Sew-on and claw settings that you close by hand.

Stud and prong setters

The original mechanical method: prongs through the fabric.

Refills and settings

Studs and claw settings are sized to the setter’s dies, so buy refills made for your tool. Rhinestone claw settings are sold by SS size; see the Rhinestone size chart.

Common questions

Where can I buy bedazzler refills?

Stud and rhinestone refills are sold for specific setters, sized to their dies. For glue-on and hotfix kits, “refills” simply means more rhinestones in the same size.

What is a professional bedazzler?

Usually a table-top stud setting machine with interchangeable dies and a starter supply of studs and settings, built for repeated use on denim and leather.

Do stud setters damage fabric?

They make small holes. On sturdy fabric that is rarely noticeable; on thin fabric it can tear.
