Resin fill with a scatter of larger glass accents is a common way to get sparkle without the cost of an all-glass piece. Keep the heights similar: glass stones of the same nominal size can sit slightly taller.

For full-coverage work on hard objects they are a sensible choice. Next to glass they look softer and scratch more easily.

Are crystal rhinestones glass?

“Crystal” in rhinestone listings usually means glass. Premium lead-crystal stones exist and are priced accordingly.
