Bejeweling uses bigger, bolder stones than bedazzling — and some of them are sewn, not glued.

Bejeweling clothes and bags

Heavy jewels pull on thin fabric, so place them where the fabric is supported — collars, cuffs, waistbands, bag flaps — and sew through a small backing patch inside if the fabric is light. Hand wash bejeweled clothes inside out. For lighter sparkle on a large area, hotfix rhinestones are easier.

Headbands, bags and hard objects

Padded headbands, clutch frames and hard-shell bags take glued jewels well. Scuff and clean the surface, use an E6000-type adhesive, and press each jewel for a few seconds. Glue pearls sparingly — excess glue shows around a round base.

Bejeweling kits

“Bejeweling kit” is usually another name for a bedazzling kit: rhinestones plus glue and a pick-up pen. For true jewels and pearls, buy them loose, sized to your project, and add chunky shaped gems for hearts and stars.
