How to bedazzle Crocs

What to know first

Crocs-style clogs are molded EVA foam. It is non-porous, so fabric glues have nothing to soak into, and it flexes hard across the toe with every step, so rigid glues crack off. Heat is out entirely: EVA softens and warps well below hotfix temperatures. A flexible adhesive, a clean surface and designs that avoid the crease are what make them last.

What you need

• Resin rhinestones (3 mm fill, 4–6 mm accents)
• Flexible E6000-type adhesive
• Isopropyl alcohol
• Wax pick-up pen
• Tissue paper to stuff the shoes firm

Step by step

1. Wash and dry the clogs, then wipe the area with isopropyl alcohol.
2. Stuff them with paper so the surface is firm while you work.
3. Start with the strap and the sides of the heel, then the upper sides.
4. Work small patches of glue; press each stone firmly.
5. Leave the toe crease bare or lightly scattered.
6. Cure fully in a ventilated room before wearing.

• Gluing over charm holes you want to use
• Washing machines and hot water
